A Rainy Day

From my childhood I am attracted to rain and I love monsoon season. It is nature in its best form when it rains. Young and old love rains.

After summer we all wait for the monsoon season. It gives us relief from the scorching heat of the sun.

Rains signify a new beginning and a fresh life. Especially if it rains unexpectedly then it is very thrilling.

How many have enjoyed a rainy day in your childhood. I have enjoyed it thoroughly.

I had my group of children in the neighbourhood whom I used to play with. As soon as it started raining we used to pick up sheets of paper and make paper boats and place them in the muddy rain water. It used to be nice to see the boat sailing away.

I cannot forget my childhood in rainy days.

When we are tired the sound of rain falling on the roof top of our house gives us great relief and is relaxing. Often we children get holidays due to heavy rains during monsoons and we enjoy the beauty of rain sitting at home.

I used to find every opportunity to get wet in the rain, as a child and even now. I just want to stand in the heavy showers of rain and get wet from head to toes.

Especially I like the hailstorms. There will be blocks of Ice falling down. A few years back this happened near my house and me and my family members all of us picked the ice and ate them. It was fun.

On a rainy day the dew drops on the leaves are a beautiful sight to see. The dirt and dust on the plants and trees are washed off and they look green and bright. It is greenery everywhere. This sight is refreshing to the mind.
And the smell of mud during rains is something I like a lot. It smells very good.

There is water everywhere, in abundance. The farmers have enough water to do farming and agriculture. And the plantations in estates look beautiful and breath taking after the monsoon showers.

I once visited Coorg during monsoon season and had been to one of our family friends estate. it was great to see the plants and creepers fresh and green.

It is always pleasant weather during rains, neither hot nor cold. All water bodies overflow with water.

Frogs, Snakes and other creatures come out from their hiding places during the rain. These animals which did not get enough water now have enough water to survive.

On a rainy day I keep a bucket and collect rain water and then use it to water my plants. This is rain water harvesting and we can conserve water.

As a child was scared of thunder and lightning. Not anymore. I now enjoy this.

I love to enjoy some coffee and snacks sitting on the balcony of my house relaxing with my family members.
Though a rainy day also has its disadvantages that we cannot travel freely, roads are muddy and clothes dont dry soon. But I have many memories of my childhood experiences on a rainy day.

I am a native of Mangalore and it rains heavily there during monsoons as it is a coastal area. I had once been to the beach and it was raining. The sight of rain drops falling into the sea was beautiful. The sound of rain drops falling from the roof top of our house was relaxing.

I love a rainy days and the monsoon season too. How many of you do ?
