About Rajballavi Maa In Our Village

Today one more story about my village . The 16th century temple is having the idol of Devi Rajballavi, after whom Rajbalhat is named, can still be seen to this day but sadly the temple has been renovated several times .

The strange idol of Rajballavi, about six feet in height, is white in color and his left leg rests on the head of seated Birupakha Mhadev and right leg rest on the chest of Mahakal Bhairab.The form of the goddess as Shweta Kali(White Kali). She is a mixed form of Durga, Kali and Saraswati. The right hand has a dagger while the left a sindoor case. The temple is still active and devotees from the surrounding region converge to Rajbalhat to pay tribute to the Goddess.There are more temples with Terracotta , decoration in Rajbalhat village. All of them were made in 18th century. Radhakantajiu (1733) temple, Sridhar Damodar Temple (1724) decorated by terracotta, built in the 18th century are worth visiting .
My great grand mother told me the story about how this temple formed there . There were 14 businessmen going through Damodar river for business with lots of things in their ship . On the way they saw a sweet little girl in the river and having bath . They passed wrong comments and the girl got angry and curse them that they will loose their belongings they have for business . Immediately all their ships sunk . They started crying and after long time girl told that they will get it back if they do all good work in their travel and wont cheat anyone . businessmen agreed to it and went . When they were returning they found all their ships intact . They understood that small girl was the Goddess who helped them to regain everything . So they built the temple of Goddess Rajballavi in the village and started worshipping .
The story of the Goddess is known to all the villagers and I would love to spread it to all my friends and teachers . My village is having so many other stories and histories which I'll share with you all in my next Blog !!

Grade 5 - What If I Discovered A New Planet??
