SCHOOL EDUCATION IN INDIA

EDUCATION IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN ATTEMPT TOWARDS THE HARMONIOUS DEVELOPMENT WHICH ORIENTATES THE STUDENTS TO HAVE RIGHT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD,SELF OTHERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT.IN THE PRESENT DAY SITUATION,WHILE THE COUNTRY IS OUTRAGED BY MONSTROUS ACTS OF TERRORISM AND VIOLENCE AGAINST THE DEFENLESS CIVILIANS,EDUCATION SHOULD ACT AS A TOOL OF SOCIAL CHANGE,PORTRAYING AND VOICING THE VALUES OF JUSTICE,TRUTH AND MUTUAL RESPECT.THIS INVOLVES STRENGHTING THE CHARACTER AND CONSOLIDATION OF THE MORAL FIBRE.TODAY,I AM AFRAID THAT THE EDUCATION IN INDIA APPEARS TO BE AT VARIANCE WITH THESE STANDARDS.

EDUCATION IN INDIA

THE GENERAL EDUCATION IN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS INCLUDING SCHOOLS SEVERAL FORCES COMPETING WITH EACH OTHER IN POLLUTING THE ACADEMIC ATMOSPHERE.WHILE EDUCATIONIST ALL OVER THE COUNTRY RECOGNISE THE MALAISE,THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SUGGEST A WORKABLE REMEDY.DUE TO HEAVY DEMANDS OF MODERN CONSUMER CIVILISATION,EVEN TWO AND HALF YEAR OLD TODDLERS ARE BEING PUSHED OUT OF THE SECURITY AND FRIENDLINESS OF THEIR HOMES TO STRANGE WORLD OF CLASSROOMS.INSTEAD OF BEING EXPOSED TO NATURAL LEARNING THROUGH FAMILIAR PEOPLE AND OBJECTS.AT QUITE AN EARLY AGE,THEY ARE INTRODUCED TO TEXTBOOKS AND RHYMES WHICH THEY ARE OBLIGED TO REPEAT LIKE PARROT! HOW PATHETIC IS THE SIGHT OF LITTLE CHILDREN CARRYING HEAVY SACKS OF BOOKS ON THEIR BACKS.

ROLE OF TEACHERS IN EDUCATION

THERE SEEMS TO BE A MISCONNECTION IN OUR COUNTRY THAT EDUCATION IS THE SINGLE IMPORTANT FACTOR IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A DEVELOPING NATION. IN MY OPINION, KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION CAN BE ACHIEVED ARE THE SALIENT ASPECTS THAT MAKES A DEVELOPED COUNTRY.KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION CAN BE ACHIVED THROUGH MEANS OTHER THAN EDUCATION ALSO.ILLITERTAE PEASANTS MAKE USE OF THEIR EXPEIENCE THAT THEY EARN OVER A PERIOD OF TIME FOR SUCCESSFUL FARMING AND INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY.

WE SHOULD REPECT OUR TEACHERS BECAUSE THEY PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN OUR EDUCATION.THEY ARE GIVING THEIR BEST TO IMPROVE OUR EDUCATION AND TO TEACH US MORE.
