How To Use Blogger In 2021 | Complete Beginners Guide To Blogger | Blogger Tutorial

Blogger is one of the best and most widely used blogging platforms out there and surprisingly it is very intuitive and easy to use. In this tutorial I will be teaching you how to use this platform from start to finish.

Creating A Blog

This includes a subdomain and is the place where all your posts will be published.

  • Click On 'Create Your Blog' and sign in with your google account.
  • Choose a name for your blog.
  • Choose a URL for your blog.
  • Choose your display name.

Posts

Step 1 Creating A Post

A post is where you publish your information. Multiple posts makes up a blog.

  • Click on 'New Post' in the top left corner.
  • Type in a title for your post.
  • Use the options on the top to create your post.

2. Post Settings

Post settings help you to organize your post and also change it's search settings.

  • Labels can be used to organize your posts.
  • You can set the publish date of your post.
  • You can type in a custom permalink or let blogger do it for you!
  • Type in your blog's location if it is relevant.
  • The search description is displayed in search results.
  • Change the options to suit your needs.
  • Change your custom robot tags or set it to default.

3. Publishing Your Post

Publishing your post makes it available for anyone on the internet to view it!

  • Upload a thumbnail by inserting an image before everything else in a post.
  • Click on preview post to preview on Desktop, Tab and Mobile.
  • Click on publish if you are happy with the preview.

Stats


  1. Viewing Stats
  • You can view all your statistics by latest, pages etc!
  • Filter it by time using the option above the latest post stats.
  • Refresh the stats using the refresh option.
  1. Tracking Your Own Page Views

Your own page visits are tracked by default.

  • To change it click on 'Manage the tracking of your own pageviews' at the bottom.
  • Check the box to not track your own pageviews.
  • Do the same for every web browser you use!

Comments


  1. Viewing Comments
  • View all your comments here!
  • Filter it by type (published, awaiting moderation etc)
  • Refresh it using the refresh button.
  1. Comment Options
  • The X button is to remove the content in the comment.
  • The ! button is to mark the comment as spam.
  • The trash button is to delete the comment.

Earnings

  • Create an Adsense account and google will place advertisements on your blog. You can view all your earnings once the advertisements are on your blog.
  • This topic will be covered in a future blog.

Pages

  • You can create pages by clicking on the new page icon in the top left corner.
  • This will take you to an editor that is exactly the same as the post editor and you can publish the page when you are happy with it.

Layout

  • Here you can add, edit, and move gadgets!
  • Click on the plus icon to add.
  • Click on the pencil icon to edit.
  • You can show and hide gadgets using the edit option as well.
  • Click and drag the gadget to move.

Themes

  • Select a theme or import a theme.
  • Click on preview to test the theme on your blog.
  • Click on customize to edit the theme
  • Click on apply to apply the theme to the blog.

Settings

  • Settings help you to customize your blog and also make it ready for search engine optimization.
  • All the settings will be covered in a future blog.

Reading List

  • All the blogs you follow will be displayed here!
  • Click on the pencil icon to edit your reading list.
