The World's Most Popular Image - Bliss
I am pretty sure that you and everybody around you has seen the above image somewhere that is exactly why it hold the title of the world's most viewed or world's most popular picture.
This incredible image of a lush green meadow and clear crisp clouds was taken by photographer Charles O’Rear in Sonoma County, California in the year 1996 when Charles pulled his car up somewhere along Sonoma Highway in California to snap his shot on the way to see his girlfriend. Since this image was taken at a time where Photoshop or other such photo editing programs weren't as popular as it is nowadays it has not been manipulated in any form.
Now you might be wondering where exactly you have seen this image. Well, this image was the default wallpaper of the Windows XP which was the world's most popular operating system or OS for over a decade. The Operating System was so popular that it is still being used today by thousands of people even though it is not officially supported by windows (It is a 35 year old operating system so what do you expect!)
Where is the photographer currently you may ask, he is still taking photos and and working on his books. The two books he has published are Napa Valley and Napa Valley: Land of Vines and Wines.
There have been multiple attempts to recreate this photo, the most popular one is the one by the duo Simon Goldin and Jakob Senneby taken in the year 2006. This is what the image looks like:
There is not much of a difference in this image is there? Just more vines and a cloudier climate.
Critics might argue that the image is bland and lacks a point of interest but I think otherwise. According to me this image is captures a beautiful landscape in an amazing way and we also need to consider the fact that this image was not taken for any kind of commercial usage but just for fun.
