Plastic is Drastic!

 Who doesn't know about plastic pollution? Everyone knows but no one does anything. On one hand, plastic has many uses, and on others, it has thousands of disadvantages. The advantages are-

1. They are cheap, lightweight, and durable.

2. They are poor conductors of electricity and heat.

These were some advantages but the disadvantages are-

1. It is a threat to marine life, as people throw plastic in water bodies and marine animals get stuck in them.

2. It is dangerous for animals when people throw plastic on-road and animals like cows, consume them.

3. It is used at a very large rate because of its advantages.

4. It produces harmful gases when heated or burnt which cause many diseases and death.

5. Natural decomposition takes about 1000 years.

6. Soil fertility will be lost due to the chemicals present in plastic.

7. The cost of recycling is very high.

8. It is used for packaging. Food packed in them can cause cancer.

Disadvantages are more than advantages but still, they are used a lot just because they are cheap. There are many other things that can replace plastic such as jute, cotton, paper, wood, bamboo, pottery, cardboard, etc.

The government has banned plastic and people are protesting about that. We should take care of our environment rather than choosing what is comfortable for us. More than half of India is using most of the things made up of plastic. We always want to go to America but we have never observed that it is the one producing most of the plastic. We are disturbing all the facilities given by the environment, just for our sake.
