CRICKET BAT
DHEEKSHA.Feb 19 2022
- A cricket bat is a specialised piece of equipment used by batters in the sport of cricket to hit the ball, typically consisting of a cane handle attached to a flat-fronted willow-wood blade. It may also be used by a batter who is making ground to avoid a run out, by holding the bat and touching the ground with it.
- Vibrations of a bat are largest in amplitude when the ball is struck right at the tip of the bat. Such an impact usually stings the hands. Vibrations are weakest when the bat strikes the ball at one or other of the two node points about 6 in. from the tip of the bat
- The bat twist on the hand during the ball impact occurs due to a number of reasons, such as the speed of the incoming ball, impact of the ball away from the sweet spot region, grip on the handle, body weight balance, footwork, etc.
