Natural Wonders
What are Natural Wonders ?
A Natural Wonder is a monument which is made by nature and is not man made.
Mountains , rivers , glaciers , volcanoes and water falls are some of the examples of natural wonders.
Among the natural wonders , some of the seven natural wonders of the world are :
Mount Everest
Great barrier reef
Victoria falls
Paricutinvolcano
grand canyon
Aurora borealis
Natural wonders are much more beautiful when compared to the the artificial wonders of the world.
What is a mountain ?
A mountain is a large land form that rises above the surrounding land in a limited area, usually in the form of a peak. Mountains are formed through tectonic forces or volcanism. These forces can locally raise the surface of the earth.
There are five basic kinds of mountains:
Based on how they are formed they are divided into different types of mountains.
Fold Mountains (Folded Mountains)
Fault-block Mountains (Block Mountains)
Dome Mountains.
Volcanic Mountains.
Plateau Mountains.
Now let us know what is a river ?
A river is a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, sea, lake or another river.
They take birth in mountains and flow down into the plains. They are used for fishing, boating etc. Places around rivers are made into tourist spots. We humans use rivers for irrigation in agriculture, for drinking water, for transportation, to produce electricity through hydroelectric dams, and for leisure activities like swimming and boating.
THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF FORESTS TOO
- Tropical Deciduous Forest
- Mediterranean Forests
- Temperate Broad-leaved Deciduous and Mixed Forest
- Warm Temperate Broad-leaved Deciduous Forest
- Coniferous Forest
Every one of us should visit a natural wonder at least once in their life time just as I visited Elephanta caves, I also plan to visit other natural wonders during my vacation. They are stress busters and give us inner peace of mind. Hope this blog was informative . See you in my next blog.
